Gifted Education Programme (GEP) 2014 Test - All the Best to the Students!

Little Rooster showed me the Gifted Education Programme (GEP) Screening Test 2014 letter from school just over a month ago. Few years back, I've had friends who spoke about the GEP Test when their kids was about to go through it when in Primary 3. While I am aware of it all these while, I never really dug deep into its full details.

When I saw the letter, I held back a little whether I should let Rooster sit for it. I thought about it and decided why not, it will be a good test on his ability since I have no idea how he has been performing relative to his peers in the last 2.5 years.  The school does not disclose a student's position in class, nor did they announce on the academic streaming when he progressed to 3rd year of school. What I do know is his own scores (and some input from him about what scores his friends generally get), and I would just make an assumption on his percentile band.

A month has passed after Rooster sat for the Gifted Eduction Programme screening test. And last week he greeted me with a smile when I picked him up from school. And he said "Guess what Mommy? I passed the GEP Screening Test", beaming with confidence. He showed me the notice to invite him to sit for the next level.

When Rooster sat for the screening test, I have never pressured him since the start and have never set any expectations. We never made any preparations and I've just let him be himself. All I did was to give him tips and guidance on how to score well, encouraged him to do his best and see the results.

Today's (14th Oct 2014) GEP Test which started at 9.00am will be on English Language (1h 20min) & General Ability I (1hr 20min). For tomorrow (15th Oct 2014), all students will be tested on General Ability II (55min) & Mathematics (1hr 30min).

Same like before, I just encouraged him to just do his best; avoid making careless mistakes and human errors as much as possible, apply common sense when answering questions and fully utilise all the time given for cross-checking. And do your best!

I could see that the screening test has boosted his confidence level, and he has made me a very happy Mommy too in many ways. As we are not Singaporean citizens, we do not get to enjoy any educational benefits and perks no matter how well he performs academically.

So no matter the outcome, I am already very proud of my Little Rooster. And I am a Happy Mom!

And to the rest of the nationwide students sitting for the Gifted Education Programme (GEP) 2014 Selection Test - All the Best!

American universities providing an opportunity for french candidates. What are the things involved in the Fulbright Foreign Student Program? $ 6,000 to $ 45,000 is a large amount that can provide financial help for students. Only French candidates can apply for this scholarship. You are giving a lot of facilities for eligible students. If students can fulfill this criteria they have a chance to apply here. Parents can consider Gifted Education Programme for their children. That allows them to reach their full potential. Thanks for this beneficial article.
